The Great Lakes Region, Huron Valley, and Rose Lake Clubs cordially invite you to attend the 2008 Great Lakes Region Mega Rally. It will be held at the Nancy G Held Equestrian Center in Albion, Michigan. This packet contains the entry forms and information pertaining to this Rally.

Great Lakes Region 2008 Mega Rally GREAT LAKES REGION MEGA RALLY Fees: $100.00 per rider, per rally or if same horse and rider combination enter both rallies, $180 total. $45.00 per stable manager, per rally or $75 if same clubber does both rallies. Stabling for Show Jumping from 6 pm Friday to end of Rally on Sunday Stabling for Dressage Rally from 6pm Sunday to end of Rally on Tuesday (Meals are not included in the fee). Initial bedding for SJ, Bring your own bedding for Dressage. Stalls are dirt floors. **Rally Packets will be available Friday evening. **A Rally Info Center will be located in the office on Saturday morning until 8:30 am **Stall assignment maps will be posted Friday evening at the barn entrances. ***CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFIERS – ASSUME YOU ARE GOING, BRING YOUR COMPLETED PAPERWORK TO RALLY, COGGINS, ETC. AS INCLUDED IN DEB SPENCER'S CHAMPS PACKET. PAPERWORK AND PAYMENT MUST BE MADE ON SUNDAY AFTER AWARDS.
Organizer’s NotesRULES FOR RALLIES: The rally will be run in accordance with the Handbook and USPC Rules for Show Jumping 2008 with all addenda, 2008 Show Jumping Spring Newsletter ( www.ponyclub.org) and the USPC Horse Management Handbook and Rules for Competition 2007 with any addenda and 2007 newsletter. This information is required for withdrawal in this case only 50% of the entry fee will be refunded. Otherwise, no refunds will be given. TEAMS: A team consists of 3 or 4 riding members and a Stable Manager. The Stable Manager is optional but recommended. Mixed rating teams are permitted. If you do not have enough participants from your club to form a team, you may contact other clubs to form a team or let the rally secretary know as soon as possible. Each team must have a chaperone and a coach. ELIGIBILITY: All horses and ponies (mares and geldings only) must be 5 years of age or older at the time of entering regional rallies, and should be the regular mount for the rider’s Pony Club activities and/or approved by your DC and Supervisor of Instruction. EQUIPMENT: As set out in current Horse Management Rule Book for overnight rallies. STABLING: Your entry fee includes stabling on the grounds from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m.Tuesday, if attending both Phases of Mega Rally. There will be no stalls for horses coming early for Dressage Rally that are not in SJ Rally. But there will be layover stalls for horses staying on after SJ at $20 per stall. Please bring your own hay, grain and bedding. Stalls have dirt floors and full doors. Stalls must be cleaned and inspected before you leave. All stalls left dirty will result in a $40.00 charge per stall to the responsible club. NO BATHING HORSES AT THIS RALLY. Sponging off permitted in DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY. LODGING:

**Camping is available on the grounds for $20/site for duration. There is no electrical hook-up.
MEALS: Not included in the entry fee. Food will be available on the grounds during rally hours. Fast food Restaurants are approximately 10 miles away. Chaperones are encouraged to pack coolers for the tack rooms. FARRIER & VETERINARIAN: Will be on call for both days. All services are to be paid at the time of service; payment is the responsibility of the horse/pony owner. Phone numbers will be posted in the barn area. PARENTS: Please remember that the rally is for your children to show what they have learned. Relax and enjoy being a volunteer. The NEUTRAL ZONE is the place to go to leave a message for your child. Remind your child to check the neutral zone for notes, etc. during the rally. Great Lakes Region 2008 Show Jumping Rally SHOW JUMPING CLASSES OFFERED All pony clubbers will ride the same classes with courses modified to meet the requirements of their division. Saturday afternoon: Normal Knockdown Ring 1 Equitation Ring 2 Sunday: Take your Own Line Ring 1 Normal Knockdown Ring 2 * *Any horses that go clean for the last round may stay in the ring for a 5th shortened course to receive bonus points.
NON-QUALIFYING DIVISION
Class: 1 D1 Simple Course, mostly X’s, not to exceed 12” 2 D2 Simple Course not to exceed 2’ 3 D3 Change of direction and a variety of fences not to exceed 2’6” 4 C1 & up A variety of fences with combinations similar to qualifying course but set lower. Maximum 3’. *Please note that you may only compete at your current rating level unless permission is given by the organizer to compete below. You may not compete higher than your rating level.
QUALIFYING DIVISION
Open to C1’s and above. Anyone trying to qualify for championships must ride in this division. You must have already sent Championship Commitment information to Candy Tavormina in order to qualify. Others may ride in these divisions if they have permission from their DC. Class: Q1 Lg. Pony & Horse I A challenging course, Maximum 3’3”
Q2 Horse II A challenging course, Maximum 3’6” Q3 Horse III A challenging course, Maximum 3’9” Q4 Horse IV A challenging course, Maximum 4’ (See Rule Book for Details) Awards: Team SJ Awards: Ribbons to all competitors. “Little Bit” Trophy to highest placing team “The George Memorial” Highest scoring Show Jumping Team Horse Management SJ Awards: Neck medallions to top HM placing, individual D, C & B’s “Golden Pitchfork” to team scoring most horse management points “The Golden Nugget Trophy” “The Ginger Memorial Trophy” to the team that, in the eyes of the Horse Management Chief, has exhibited the best sportsmanship “The David Kitts Memorial Trophy” **PLEASE INDICATE ON YOUR TEAM ENTRY IF YOU HAVE THESE TROPHIES, BRING THEM WITH YOU AND DROP THEM OFF AT THE RALLY INFO CENTER “CHECK IN” UPON ARRIVAL.
SHOW JUMPING TENTATIVE SCHEDULE Friday, June 27th 5:00 – 8:00 pm Move in option. You will NOT be allowed onto the property before 5:00 pm with your trailers, unless you have made arrangements with the rally secretary.
Saturday, June 28th7:00 am – 8:00 am Arrival, check-in. (Parents, please only assist with unloading.) 8:00 am Official Opening of the Rally – SET UP BEGINS 9:30 am Official Briefing- Bring helmet for helmet check 10:30 am Jog-out in order of go - all must wear a helmet. 11:00 am Coaches meeting in Show jumping ring 1. 11:30 am First Turnout inspection (as scheduled in program – 3 or 4 stations) 12:30 pm First jumping round begins in ring 1 (Rider round 1) (beginning with the highest level) 12:45 pm First jumping round (equitation) begins in ring 2 (Rider round 2) (all horses will jump one round in each ring back-to-back or with a short break.) Turnbacks one hour after second ride. 6:00 pm (appx.) Barns close pending completion of final turn backs! 6:00 pm Competitors’, Parents’, Volunteers’ Social – Everyone in the Main Tent. 6:15 pm Escorted barn tour for parents (tour guide will call for you in the Main Tent).
Sunday, June 29th6:00 am Barns open 7:30 am Jog out in order of go 9:00 am Third jumping round (Take you own line) begins in ring 1 (Rider round 3) (Beginning with the highest level - Don’t forget safety check before mounting. 9:15 am Third jumping round begins in ring 2 (Rider round 4)(all riders will jump one round in each ring, back-to-back or with a short break. Riders with clean second rounds have the option of jumping a third shortened course for bonus points) 2:00 pm You may start packing up at this time, but please no parents in the barns until after the awards. 2:30 pm Evaluations and meeting with Chief Horse Management Judge – Bunny Hendricks. 3:00 pm Awards (without horses) There will be a meeting for those qualified for National Championships and a parent immediately after the awards ceremony – bring COMPLETED PAPERWORK FROM CHAMPIONSHIPS PACKET, COGGINS & a checkbook! Job assignments, including Assistant Horse Management Judges, will be posted by email to all volunteers and to all DC’s at least one week before the rally. Once assigned, it is your responsibility to find a substitute if you cannot perform the duty assigned. There will be a volunteer briefing each morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. with the Volunteer Coordinator to review your responsibilities. Thank you for being generous with your time and talents.
